Who covers the cost of my care?
Before you move in, a Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC) assessment will determine your care needs. They will assist with arranging a means test through Work and Income NZ. If eligible, you could qualify for partial or full government subsidies to help with costs.
According to current WINZ guidelines, you may be eligible for subsidy if you meet the following criteria:
Aged 65 or older, or aged 50-64 and single with no dependents
Assessed as needing long-term residential care in a rest home or hospital
Require this care for an indefinite period
Are receiving contracted care services
The funding amounts are reviewed annually, with the current threshold for full subsidy for an individual being assets under $291,825 (as of July 2025). Please note, this only applies to standard accommodation options.

What isn’t covered by funding?
Government subsidies only cover "standard services." Any optional extras or premium features are not included in the subsidy and will incur additional costs.
Premium accommodation and add-ons
A range of premium rooms are available with features such as larger spaces, private ensuites, scenic outlooks and access to private courtyards. Premium rooms incur a daily charge of up to $15.
We also provide a variety of optional services, such as hairdressing, physiotherapy or magazine subscriptions, which are paid for separately and designed to make your experience more comfortable and personalised.
Independent living options
Independent living homes operate on a private-pay basis and are not funded by government subsidies. For specific questions about costs or funding for these living options, please contact our team directly; they’ll be happy to assist.
